The Girl of the Golden West (1915)
The Girl of the Golden West is a 1915 American Western film directed by Cecil B. DeMille. It was originally a 1905 play by David Belasco, which he then turned into a novel. It became an opera by Giacomo Puccini (La fanciulla del West) in 1910. Prints of the film survive in the Library of Congress film archive. A later version, with additional music by Sigmund Romberg, was a 1938 film with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.
