The Flying Torpedo (1916)
The Flying Torpedo is a lost 1916 silent film drama produced by Fine Arts Film Company and released by the Triangle Film Corporation. It was directed by John B. O'Brien and Christy Cabanne. The film stars John Emerson usually a movie director and in an early appearance young ingenue Bessie Love. Similar in theme to the comedy The Mystery of the Leaping Fish made a few films later with Love in the cast, this film is a straight out drama more in tune with the mad scientist films of the 1930s. Chillingly, it prophesizes future weaponry known as guided missiles which lay 30 years in the future.
