Portions of the film were shot in Bran Castle in Romania. The film was released on 8 February 2013. The film was also released in Tamil as Naangam Pirai and in Telugu as Punnami Ratri with additional scenes and songs featuring Tamil and Telugu actors. The cost of the film in four languages, Malayalam, English, Tamil and Telugu was 12 crore.
