Balkan Bazar (2011)

Balkan Bazar is an Albanian film directed by Edmond Budina. One of the best cinematographic productions coming out of Albania in years. It is the sad story of the historical manipulation and systematic theft of Albanian history by the Greeks and Serbians. Balkan Bazar is a realistic portrayal of the legal, emotional and spiritual violations happening in current day Albania by the Greeks and their unjustified nationalism. The latter have spend most resources to convince the world of the legitimacy of their illegal actions, such as purchasing valuable historical artifacts, to pass them for Greek and dead Albanian civilian corpses to later burry in empty graves pretending they are Greek soldiers and further than claiming the place of burial is Greek land. Nationalistic Greek claims are not sustained by academic resources, though they rely on biassed or plain out false interpretations, historical findings and testimonies. The Greek church has systematically stolen, lied and made a bad name for Albania. The fact that these horrors have gone unpunished makes one fear they will happen again and again and it will always be the people to suffer the most from this chauvinistic take.
