813 (1920)

813 is a 1920 film directed by Charles Christie and Scott Sidney, written by Scott Darling from the story by Maurice Leblanc, produced by Al Christie, released by the Christie Film Company and the Robertson-Cole Pictures Corporation, and starring Wedgwood Nowell as jewel thief Arsene Lupin with a supporting cast featuring Ralph Lewis, Wallace Beery and Laura La Plante. The picture was remade in 1932 as Arsene Lupin with John Barrymore as Lupin and Lionel Barrymore as the lead detective, and again in 2004 as The Adventures of Arsene Lupin starring Kristin Scott Thomas, along with countless other iterations of the fictional character Lupin in books, magazines, films, television programs, and video games. The plot involves a dashing and notorious jewel thief quite similar to A. J. Raffles, who was also portrayed on film by John Barrymore.
